Diet

When it comes to the subject of diet, far too often we assume that the "talk" is weight loss. Not so...here's a definition from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary of that word "diet" (the 'D' word)-- it can mean: "food and drink regularly consumed"; "habitual nourishment"; "the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person (or animal) for a special reason"; or, "a regimen of eating and drinking sparingly so as to reduce one's weight".

So you see... that word has different meanings to different people, however, it's unsually associated with trying to lose weight.

The first steps in the direction of weight loss (if that's what your goal is) pick the right reason because ultimately, your reason for trying to loss weight shouldn't lead you to poor nutrition. The trick is to find the reason/motive that will work for you.

I have all kinds of excellent motives when it comes to dieting and taking your weight loss seriously. One of the most common reasons is to lose weight. Some want to go back to the size 5 jeans they wore in high school, while others just want to be able to look in the mirror again without feeling the guilt. Some call it a simple matter of vanity and for others it still has to do with what has become a lifelong problem. If you find the inspiration you need to be successful with your weight loss this time, unlike others, it's entirely plausible and acceptable that this reason will be your motivation for you when you're on a weight loss plan.

Other reasons for a weight loss program is the desire to be more physically fit. Some of us have a deep and abiding desire to live as long as possible and are firmly convinced that the best method for accomplishing this goal is to live the healthiest life possible! This is another excellent reason for losing weight and getting in shape - if it works for you that is. The thing to remember is that every person will have to dig deep and find their own motivation.

Yet another major reason is: finding the energy you need to keep pace with the kids. This is one of the most heartbreaking side effects for most when it comes to obesity. There is simply no energy left over at the end of the day to enjoy doing things with your little ones who are young people only for a very short time. You want to work hard to build those precious memories with them, but find that you have absolutely no energy to do so.

Revenge is a dish that is best served cold and still a great motivator for some when it comes to the diet. Losing weight takes a lot of time in many cases so you must be able to handle your motivation, even when things get rough along the route. The road to a new body is not an easy road. This is for those who have some serious emotional healing to do and the best revenge for old and slight wounds is to come back more beautiful than ever before. If this motivation is what it takes for you to take note of the pounds than it is the motivation for which you must stand.

Religion is another common weight loss motivation. Some people believe the body should be treated as a temple. There is nothing wrong with this philosophy at all, although it takes us a little bit longer to find our way to that line of thinking than others. Religion and faith are powerful motivations (as they are known for healing to people in distress by the strength of their faith or their prayers). If your faith gives you the will power and strength that you need to connect with your weight loss goals then by all means lean on your faith and keep him close.

No matter what your motivation for a diet and lose weight plan is - just go and find YOUR motivation...
