Fitness and Exercise for Kids
Fitness and exercise for kids? Here are some tips for introducing exercise to them...
1 - start at an early age Start introducing exercise at an early age by the mere fact that children are normally active because a sedentary lifestyle (among families) has a direct impact on whether or not a child becomes fully engaged in exercise. 2 - teach why exercise and a healthy diet is important Start to introduce and teach exercise to your child, because if a child doesn't learn from parents that exercise and a healthy diet is important the child will not want to participate in any form of exercise (and that's no good). 3 - develop an active lifestyle So, get your kids away from the computer, TV, or Nintendo for awhile and get them active. Any doctor will tell you that 20 to 30 minutes of exercise a day can make a world of difference in a child's life. You can: - walk to school
- participate in after school activities
- bike
- jog
- swim
These are just a few examples of the necessary components to achieve a healthy body and mind. 4 - introduce new activities For example, Tai Kwan Do - a form of martial arts, has become very popular especially for younger children - it not only keeps them fit but it gives a sense of pride and confidence as well. What about a group/team activity for the older kids like...orienteering...this is the kind of exercise that most kids would love because it not only deals with the unknown but it also has them using a variety of skills to reach the goal! 5 - vary the routine As your child grows older, what was fun one day becomes dull the next therefore it's vital to keep your child interested - mix up their routine. Why? Because it becomes boring and they need to be constantly stimulated by new things...so... make every activity become an adventure!
