Fitness Exercise Programs
Planning, Tips & Ideas
Just a few important notes before I begin to talk about planning fitness exercise programs - *Please talk to your doctor (and/or personal trainer) about your fitness workout schedule and about your goals - remember to consider any health concerns you may have.* And, if it’s your first fitness program start small and work your way up! Now...let’s get to the planning. Answering some question is a great place to start when figuring out what you’d like to do…to stay active, workout, and create your healthy lifestyle! Decide how often you want to do your scheduled workout - 3, 4, 5, 6 days a week? Remember, I can’t answer that for you but start small and work your way up! What type of exercises do you want/like to do? Here are some ideas…walking, aerobics, strength training? (maybe one day for each like - walk on Mondays, aerobics Wednesdays, and strength training on Thursdays). How long should each session/workout be? 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour? Plan according to your schedule and fitness goals. Again, I can’t answer that for you but start small and work your way up! Don’t be afraid to alternate your program - variety is a good thing! -
Make an appointment with yourself (like any other important appointment) …schedule in your workout. -
Take inventory – what do you have or what does your gym have…choose whether or not to use equipment such as balance balls, weights, and machines. -
I sound like I’m repeating myself (but this does work): Let’s have FUN working out…make it a social meeting and have a workout buddy! (you’re less likely to let your friend down when you make an appointment to exercise together).
